History, Part III
In 2006, Harold Tenenbaum moved to Chairman and Jack Grundfest joined the company as President. The new management team comprised of Jack, Tim McGrath, Josh Shemper, and Tony Pultz took over leadership the day to day operations.
In 1890, the only equipment needed to start a small scrap iron and metal business was a cutting torch and an alligator shear. The moving and loading of material was by wheelbarrow, manpower, and from time to time a team of mules. Very little working capital was required. Today a large recycling operation requires a forklift, trucks, front-end loaders, mechanical and hydraulic cranes, pickup trucks, 18-wheel trailer tractor rigs, automobile shredders and hydraulic shears. It also requires a fully equipped office, large amounts of credit, and above all, capable and dedicated employees.
During the past 100 years, we have grown from a small operation to one of the top corporations in the state of Arkansas in sales volume. As we continue to grow, Tenenbaum Recycling Group will continue to help provide a cleaner environment, to assist in preserving our natural resources and to provide employment for hundreds of our state’s hardest working and most dedicated people.
